Mulled Cider
Ingredients
½ gallon fresh apple cider
1 orange
12 whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
15 allspice berries
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
7 whole cardamom pods
2 tablespoons brown sugar
Directions
- Pour apple cider into a 3-quart saucepan and heat on medium high.
- While cider is heating, peel some strips of orange peel and press cloves in orange peel.
- Place orange, orange peel strips, remaining cloves and rest of ingredients in sauce pan with the cider. Heat cider to a simmer and reduce heat to low.
- Simmer for 20 minutes on low heat.
- Use a fine mesh sieve to strain cider. Add a cinnamon stick if desired.
