Located in the eastern part of New York State and covering 5,199 square miles, the Greater Capital Region includes the Albany, Troy, Schenectady and Saratoga areas.

The region is comprised of major metropolitan areas as well as beautiful rural countrysides that are home to hundreds of family-owned farms.

In 1797 the Greater Capital Region was established as the seat of state government and prospered around the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. The region became the focal point for settlement, conflict, trade commerce, industrialization, governance and education and has prospered as a hub for immigration and trade, transportation and manufacturing, recreation, agriculture, technology and learning. Some of America’s most significant military history sites including the Saratoga and Bennington battlefields are located in this region.
